“Oh No! We have to go back to wearing masks inside again?” a client was complaining to me. I realized I feel the same way! I’m sick and tired of being so concerned – For me, my family, friends and clients.

Along with that, there is so much discord in this country.

So many of us have been living with this sense of doom, filled to the brim with anxiety, helplessness, confusion and so many mixed emotions.

It is so vital for us to hold the place of stability and calmness during this time of COVID. Just when we thought it was going to be irradicated, it spikes up again. It may be tough, but it’s necessary since our children, if you have young ones at home, will learn from us how to deal with challenges and crisis.

I’ve spoken to parents really concerned what the long term effects this time period will have on their children. We still do have to be careful how our children are interacting.

When they’re under 3 years old, it’s very difficult for them to keep masks on. Yet some of them are in preschool and can come in contact with the coronavirus from others. It certainly is difficult for the young ones to be as careful as we want them to be about wearing masks and washing hands.

Now we’re hearing that even if we had 2 vaccinations, we can still get COVID! I really didn’t even want to read or hear that!

What can we do now to get through this in a Positive Way? By exercising self-care. If taking care of yourself is a foreign idea, you might find it tough to figure out what self-care tips will work for you. But I am here to give you a few tips:

❤️ First, you must schedule self-care time for yourself. Put it on your calendar. If you are stressed and burned out, you are no good to anyone, including yourself. This “chill out” time is something that must be done regularly to recharge your batteries. What do you want to do? What will put a smile on your face? That is a good start as an idea for scheduled self-care time.

❤️ You know I’ve always been a big proponent for meditation because it grounds you and transmutes negative energy. By shifting our energy, It calms you and creates clarity. If you do not know how to meditate, you can get a lot of great guided meditations on YouTube. You can also always call our office and I will be happy to get you on a “freeing you” meditation path. It’s what I do!

❤️ If you can’t get into a calm or peaceful state, then it’s time to deal with your issues such as fears and concerns with Angelic EFT. It really can shift what you’re feeling at a much deeper level. If you’re not familiar with EFT, no problem. Just send me a quick email and in the Subject line write: “NEED EFT INFO.” I’ll gladly send you my EFT sheet with some suggestions.

❤️ Next and I know you don’t want to hear this: Get physical. It doesn’t mean you have to hit the gym, which might feel dangerous for you right now anyway. Try gardening, going for a walk by yourself or with your pup. You can even swim with friends, turning on the radio and start dancing, or even sex – Anything that will get the blood flowing and get the endorphins firing up in the right direction.

❤️ If you are spinning and the anxiety and fear are just overwhelming, take a moment to think of something that gives you joy. It sounds like a little thing, but it will shift your energy off of what is stressing you out, if even for a moment. Think about it: Did worry ever solve anything? It’s okay to take your mind off of what is making you nuts.

❤️ Okay, broken record time: Get into gratitude. Make a list of everything that you are grateful for. I know there are many things for which you can give thanks. This is one of the most helpful tools there is. Ask Oprah. Make a list of 7 things that you are grateful for each evening and sleep on that attitude of gratitude.

❤️ Another thing that is often unpopular, but is imperative to self-care and well-being: Eat a nutritious diet, a healthy diet for your body. If you are a junk food junkie, your body will not have energy and you basically will not feel good. Health is our #1 priority; mentally, physically and emotionally. That balance is so imperative to our state of mind. So, take a bite from that apple!

❤️ Do something fun. What do you love to do? There are a ton of things that are fun to do that don’t cost much money. This gets back to self-care time, but make sure you are giving yourself the gift of doing something that gives you JOY. It could be as little as watching a mindless television show, having afternoon tea, taking a bath, or going to the park and watching the ducks.

What gives you a lift and feels like fun to you? You’ve earned it. Go do it.

Lastly, honor yourself. If you do not want to do something you are being pushed to do, really examine if it is for your highest good to use your valuable time doing something that doesn’t improve how you feel. You have the right to turn people down. Grow a pair and stand up for what is right for you!
