You’re working your butt off, nothing seems to be coming to fruition, you’re exhausted, stressed, not sleeping and wondering if anything is ever going to work out. Maybe, you even have had a panic attack or three.

You are spinning out of control, because of anxiety. In this state, you’re not going to be productive and certainly not going to get the results you want, which creates even more anxiety.

In the case of frequent anxiety, the fearful feelings are dread of a particular situation and not the situation itself. Most of what you are worried about never happens, so look at what all that worry got you!

Everyone experiences panic or anxiety in small ways. Most situations that bring anxiety are not life-threatening.  More than likely, it is an extremely stressful situation that has brought on the anxiety as a way of dealing with it.  Unchecked, anxiety can lead to depression – Another unproductive energy.

There is light at the end of this tunnel. There are several steps and techniques you can use to get your anxiety under control.

Get a good night’s sleep.  During the sleep cycle, your body repairs itself.  You feel more rested after several hours of restorative sleep, reaching the REM stage.  Most people need eight hours a night, which varies within an hour or two each way.

Exercise is another great way to not only relieve the anxiety, but also help you sleep. When you exercise, it helps to get more oxygen to the brain. This also increases focus, which may help you see solutions to problems, rather than simply worrying about them.

Here I go harping on this again, but Meditation is key for relieving anxiety. A simple mediation, such as taking 5 minutes to clear your mind every day, can work wonders in the fight against anxiety. It is also a great tool for sleeping.

Guided meditation can really help. I have several, which you can email me for. But also, YouTube has some lovely ones as well.

Do something you love to do. Often, we feel like we should be working all the time, but life is about balance. If you are all work and no play, you are not in balance. You get strung out and then the negative, fearful wheels start spinning.

There will always be a lot to do. Let go of getting “everything” done. Believe me, once you get one thing accomplished, there will be another thing to take its place. So, on a regular basis, do something you like (or love), such as gardening, painting, reading or listening to music. You need food for the soul.

Controlling your breathing is a solution (breathing exercises) that will help to regain the Co2 balance in your body, which create many of the worst anxiety symptoms. Again, I have several breathing techniques, that I can share with you.

Essential Oils. This one is easy. Using the extract from plants, these oils have been used for thousands of years to treat a number of conditions, including anxiety. Essential oils activate certain areas of your brain and release feel-good chemicals such as serotonin. They have been found to ease symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression, improve mood, and improve sleep. Here are some of my favorites:

  • Lavender
  • Cedarwood
  • Bergamot
  • Chamomile
  • Frankincense

If you simply are stuck in the “anxiety spin’ and can’t get out, it is important to see a professional to assist you in feeling better and becoming more grounded. I’m here for you and would love to talk with you about that.
